SmartGrids Monitor Information about EU and national SmartGrids Projects
Introduction: This SmartGrids Monitor summarizes and characterizes several hundred publicly available SmartGrids Projects in Europe.
BACHER ENERGY LTD has collected information from
various SmartGrids research, demonstration and pilot project sources in Europe such as the public databases of program managers and owners of the
SmartGrids ERA-Net, the JRC (Joint research center) of the European Commission,
universities, from public information provided by the EEGI (European
Electricity Grids Initiative) documents and from AIT (Austrian Institute of Technology), providing high-quality clustering information of EEGI-Projects.
This SmartGrids Monitor represents an interactive web based solution which allows users to get insights into many European
SmartGrids projects.
Any SmartGrids expert can download and update project information easily via web based forms.
They are encouraged to quickly update information of SmartGrids projects where they are involved and which they know.
A key principle of this interactive SmartGrids monitor is to enter also a minimum number of key characteristics related to each project.
This type of information will allow comparison of SmartGrids projects
in the dimensions, goals, steps and stakeholders covered by and involved in SmartGrids projects.
The SmartGrids monitor has the overarching goal to support the research, development, deployment, demonstration and
policy making processes towards the SmartGrids goals, i.e. to fulfill the European 20-20-20 goals and beyond
and special national goals by making Electricity the dominant energy carrier, i.e. moving fossile based
electricity generation, energy conversion for heating buildings and
for the mobility sector towards use of electricity, "generated" by renewable energy and consumed by efficient processes at households,
in the service and industrial sectors. Storage will play a key role in balancing the use of certain energy in critical time periods (from seconds over 15 minutes to seasons).
For ideas how to improve this approach, please
let us know by email to Info@BacherEnergie.ch.
The activities (information collection, structuring, grouping of contents, interaction with stakeholders) of this SmartGrids Monitor
are currently partially
funded by the
Swiss Federal Office of Energy and the
SmartGrids ERA-Net, an FP7 project of the
European Commission. The software development and environment is funded by BACHER ENERGIE AG (BACHER ENERGY LTD) and is (C) BACHER ENERGY LTD.
